Connecting With Country Reports
Access Archaeology can develop Connecting with Country reports in NSW
Connecting With Country reports are sometimes a requirement of new developments. These reports aim to connect new developments or infrastructure with Indigenous perspectives and embed the development more holistically into the landscape.
The key to a meaningful Connecting With Country Report is consultation with local Aboriginal bodies such as Land Councils, Registered Aboriginal Parties, traditional knowledge holders, Native Title Holders, Community Elders and other community representatives.
Access Archaeology engages with the key stakeholders via a mix of methods, tailored to the specific project, but including remote meetings, face to face meetings/workshops, written and/or diagrammatic media, walking on country and interviews. We listen respectfully to the perspectives of our informants. Where possible we bring proponents and architects to the table to form mutually agreed positions on integration of design ideas and principles.
A Connecting With Country report from Access Archaeology may include:
A background to the development site's Aboriginal significance
A summary of the engagement process, and consultation log
A Description of Design Principles A summary of potential options for implementation of design principles
Statements of commitment and principles for action Engagement
Our Connection with Country reports can be undertaken as stand alone projects, or in conjunction with Heritage consultation for heritage assessment projects.
